Titleist 695 Cb Forged Irons Review
After 12 years of use and getting my handicap down to a 6, I finally decided to retire my Ping Eye 2 for a more up to date iron 2 months ago. My country club is an authorized club fitter for Titleist, Ping, Mizuno, and Callaway. I was looking for a forged iron so that eliminated Ping and I am not fond of the Callaway at all(which has one forged iron on the market).
Below is a list of new and used titleist 695cb irons for sale.
So it was down to Mizuno, which I am constantly hearing has the best forged irons, and Titleist. Price was not an issue so I wanted to hit every different model each company made. I started with Titleist first, expecting to hit many different models and lie angles, etc. But, it did not take long at all. I am a long hitter, carrying my 6 iron 190 to 195.
The first three clubs handed to me felt great, I hit it within 7 yards of the target line on all my shots and carried the ball about the same distance as my Pings (All the clubs used for fitting are 6 irons). I took a swing with the fourth club handed to me and watched the ball come of the club face down the target line like a rocket. When the ball cleared the 200 yard marker by at least 5 yards I was shocked. I hit 5 more balls with the club, hitting each ball very close to my target line and all but one carrying the 200 yard marker.
The ball marks on the tape on the face were all bunched around the sweet spot in the middle of the club face. The marks on the tape on the sole were dead center. I turned to the pro and told him there was no need to go any further. The club was the Titleist 695CB forged. I could not believe how good this club felt in my hand and how easy it was for me to swing. I later found out that the lofts are 1 to 2 degrees stronger on this club than most models which accounts for my extra distance. When making good contact with this club it feels like butter. Even my mis-hits on the heel or toe out on the course only come up 10 yards short and and stay pretty straight, never getting me in trouble.
As I write this review I am still getting used to the distance each club gets me(there going over, not coming up short), but I am hitting the ball much closer, if not right down, my target line. Once the distance control comes I am sure my score will be dropping a couple of strokes or more a round on average. I cannot give these clubs high enough marks.
